Why we speak of editing, and not of development

The word service implies that the relationship ends at delivery. The word editing engages over time.

T he House Gallimard publishes Albert Camus. Camus writes. Gallimard edits. Both make a living. The 13/87 editorial royalty that the House receives on App Store distribution is not a service-provider percentage: it corresponds to the publishing chain (selection, production, distribution, signature). The creator retains the work, retains 87 per cent of revenues, and retains the inalienable moral right within the meaning of Article L.121-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code.
